Review : The Rank Game

One of our favorite things to put under our tree. is family games. Every year I try to find a new game that we can all play. This year I was honored to be able to get my hands on a photo-type of a new game!

There is a kickstarter currently going on for this great game!!

With this game, there are cards with different words that are related. Each player ranks the words and tries to guess what other people rank them. It is a great game to encourage conversation and a great “Get to know you” game for youth groups, families or any other group.

We cannot wait to get a copy of the game! I am sure it will be a family favorite!!

Check out their KICKSTARTER campaign HERE!

NOTE : I received a photo-type of this game so that I could give an honest review.

THE RANK GAME is designed by Dana Brown, a former Walt Disney Imagineer, and Chip Brown, a former Disney Studios producer and Christian publisher, to engage the diverse backgrounds, interests, personalities and opinions of every player. By celebrating our individualism, THE RANK GAME actually brings people together, through rich conversation and competition.  Created for groups of all sizes, THE RANK GAME leverages our own social behaviors—ranking the things or experiences in our lives.

For example, rank the four seasons:     A) fall  B) spring  C) summer D) winter

Your ranking might be different from mine, and we’re likely passionate about why. In THE RANK GAME, players must guess one another’s rankings to get points and win the game. IT’S THAT SIMPLE.

THE RANK GAME is easy to play at home, on long car trips, on the beach, at a restaurant… ANYWHERE! The game quickly gets people off their phones and TALKING with one another in eye-to-eye, real world gameplay. This results in people getting to know each other better.  Friends, families, corporate groups or church groups use it to facilitate conversation and “break the ice” at social gatherings.

THE RANK GAME is the first of five new games currently in production or development by Storyastic.

Book Review : Joyful Surrender

When I see Elizabeth Elliot’s name on a book, I can trust that the message will be valuable and true! I snagged a copy of Joyful Surrender by Elizabeth herself and I have loved it!!

This book is a reprint from 1982, so the book has been around, but in 1982 I was not reading any books about my faith. So this is a brand new book to me!

I loved that many chapters were short and to the point and easy to grab and read when you have a few minutes. The messages were direct and clear and they encouraged me each time I read this book!

In fact when I read the chapter about Under Orders I asked my boys to read it as well. Elizabeth calls us to be more than hearers of the Word, similar to James’ call on our lives. She calls us to serve, to act, to do as a soldier under orders from a commanding officer. We are called to act on what God’s Word tells us.

This book is about 7 disciplines for the Believers Life :

  1. Discipline of the Mind
  2. Discipline of the Body
  3. Discipline of Place
  4. Discipline of Time
  5. Discipline of Possessions
  6. Discipline of Work
  7. Discipline of Feelings

She starts out by laying the ground work of addressing The Answer to God’s Call, then How do we know we are called, Under Orders, Grace and finally A Sovereign God and Man’s Choice.

Each early chapter leads the reader to understand the foundation of what being a follower of Christ looks like and the expectations.  Then she dives into each of the disciplines of what our life should look like in each area.

I love the wisdom that Elizabeth shares in her books. Her words can be applied today just as much as they were applicable in 1982, in fact since we have drifted so far from the truths of the Bible, her words and encouragement might be more applicable today!

NOTE : I received a copy of Joyful Surrender in exchange for an honest review.

Finding freedom and happiness in divine surrender

In our age of instant gratification and if-it-feels-good-do-it attitudes, self-discipline is often overlooked. Yet it may be one of the most important lost virtues of our time. In Joyful Surrender, former missionary and beloved author Elisabeth Elliot offers her understanding of discipline and its value for people of all times. She shows you how to

· discipline your mind, body, possessions, time, and feelings
· overcome anxiety
· change poor habits and attitudes
· trust God in times of trial and hardship
· let Him have control in all areas of life

Elliot masterfully and gently takes you through Scripture, personal stories, and incisive observations to help you discover the understanding that your fulfillment as a human being depends on your answer to God’s call to obedience.

Elisabeth Elliot (1926-2015) was one of the most perceptive and popular Christian writers of the last century. The author of more than twenty books, including Passion and Purity and The Journals of Jim Elliot, Elliot offered guidance and encouragement to millions of readers worldwide.

Book Review : Tiny Truths Bible

So much fun to check out this sweet Children’s Story Bible!!

I love books that are fun to look at as well as great to listen to! This Bible is both! The pictures in this Bible are fun, colorful and engaging!! Kids will love to look at the illustrations as you read the stories to them!

This is an illustrated Children’s Bible – so each chapter is a Bible story that will explain the truths from God’s word. These stories will draw children in and help them understand the ideas of our scriptures. Topics such as Who is God, Who created you, What were you created for – are all subjects that are addressed and taught in the Tiny Truths Bible!

If your children are like mine, they want to hear stories over and over, and by reading Bible stories to them we allow their understanding of God’s word to grow in their hearts! I love that my children still love to flip through illustrated Bibles!!

We loved the illustrations, we loved the stories! This is a sweet Bible for families with your children and would make a great birthday present, or even a new baby gift!!

Note : I was offered a copy of the Tiny Truths Illustrated Bible in exchange for an honest review!
